Abstract
In recent times, there has been a growth observed in the usage of the Internet of Things (IoT) and machine learning in various fields, including personalized healthcare. This trend has heavily affected how patients and doctors worldwide look at healthcare and how personalized healthcare is going to advance in future years. The large volume of data generated by wearable sensor networks is processed and analyzed by employing collaborative cloud and IoT architectures. With smart healthcare, there is a large likelihood of a reduction in costs, as medical diagnosis forms a sizable portion of hospital bills. However, the availability, security, and privacy of cloud-based healthcare still remain critical challenges in the field of smart healthcare. These issues keep the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices from realizing reliable and effective solutions. This chapter discusses the opportunities and challenges of modern machine learning and IoT applications in healthcare.
