Abstract
Abstract This chapter provides a regional and organ-system overview of the role of radiologic procedures in diagnosing infectious diseases. Emphasis is placed on the newer, more advanced imaging techniques, such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and their most appropriate uses and indications. For each organ system, the relative advantages and limitations of these new, advanced imaging modalities is specifically discussed, including their relationship to older, more traditional imaging techniques. Specific nuclear imaging techniques in diagnosing infectious diseases is discussed.
