Abstract

Breaking the aromaticity by inserting additional atoms within the skeleton of heteroaromatic rings has gained a flourishing significance over the past years. As part of the emerging concept of “Skeletal Editing”, this short review retraces the recent progresses in dearomative enlargement reactions of both 5- and 6-membered heterocycles.
