Abstract

The article presents overview data and the results of the authors' own research on modern approaches to complex therapy and prevention of diaper dermatitis. Diaper dermatitis is an inflammatory reaction of the baby’s skin, resulting from the adverse effects of mechanical, physical, chemical and microbial environmental factors. Features of the skin of an infant (thinness and vulnerability of the epidermis, poorly developed connective component of the dermis, tenderness and fragility of the basement membrane) predispose to its slight trauma and, together with the imperfection of the thermoregulatory and immune functions of the skin, lead to the development of an inflammatory reaction. In 15% of infants, a complicated (severe) form of diaper dermatitis develops rapidly - within 1-2 days. In the future, they have a tendency to relapse with the slightest inaccuracy in care. Secondary (complicated) diaper dermatitis often develops in children with an atopic background.Purpose.To evaluate the effectiveness of DERMIFANT® children's cosmetics in the prevention and treatment of diaper dermatitis in children of the first year of life.Materials and methods.A comparative controlled study was conducted in parallel groups of children of the first year of life, whose parents used DERMIFANT® children's cosmetics at home.Results.The results of studies evaluating the effectiveness of DERMIFANT® children's cosmetics as a means of preventing diaper dermatitis show that all children in the control group whose parents did not use skin care products developed manifestations of diaper dermatitis of varying severity (from single red spots to crusts, wounds, erosion). In the main group of children of the first year of life, whose parents used DERMIFANT® children's cosmetics for the prevention of diaper dermatitis, no clinical manifestations of diaper dermatitis were noted.Conclusions.Daily use of children's cosmetics line DERMIFANT® is an effective means of preventing diaper dermatitis for children in their first year of life..
