Abstract
Working paper analyzes the political and social implications of anti-discrimination policies in Poland. On the one hand, Poland is a liberal democracy with strong constitutional protection against discrimination of different minorities and with guarantees of equality between men and women. It is a result of the constitutional framing after 1989, but also membership in the EU. On the other hand there is a growing pressure to restrict different equality related acts, by promotion of the ideology of gender, hesitant approach towards LGBT persons or using fear against migrants. Promotion of such values is much more easier in one of the most homogenous societies in Europe. The question is whether modern anti-discrimination laws and policies may operate efficiently in such difficult political environment.
