Abstract

The reasons why interstitial and mould therapy using conventional radium sources have become less popular in recent years are reviewed. Methods are described for carrying out all types of interstitial therapy using a varying degree of after-loading and making use of the advantages, both for radiation protection and for adaptation to tissue contours, of flexible Iridium-192 wires. A brief note on dosimetric method is included and details are given of the apparatus necessary for the various techniques, and its availability.
