Abstract

The use of moderate hypothermia in clinical neurosurgery was proposed on the basis of some data provided by experimental pathophysiology, such as: 1) protection of nervous system against the action of traumatizing agents, 2) reduction of the circulatory flow and brain volume, 3) reduction of CSF pressure, 4) increase of the nervous system resistance to anoxia.
