Abstract

The objective of this review was to evaluate the effects of environmental genotype interaction in beef cattle through the use of hierarchical models of one - step and two - step reaction standards, with assumptions of homogeneous and heterogeneous residual variances, comparing the results with the Standard animal assessment model. The hierarchical model of one - step reaction standards presented as the best fit to the data to evaluate the effects of the environmental gradient on the animal genotype, among the reviewed studies. Models of reaction norms can bring significant progress in identifying the effects of genotype environment interaction of different races. Leading to increases in the efficiency of production systems, through reported information, which can assist technicians and producers in the choice of specific genetic materials that meet the particularities of the production systems that are inserted.
