Abstract

The turbidite depositional systems of the northwestern Mediterranean sea (deep sea Ebro fan, Valencia trough and deep Rhone fan) are considered modern analogs of the Cerrajon formation (Late Hauterivian-Upper Albian, Intermediate realm, Betic chains) depositional model. The comparison between the modern aud the ancient record shows the similarities between these two studied cases and allows a better understanding of the models.
