Abstract
Currently, the knowledge generated based on research processes is key for economic and social development in a society where universities need to adapt by making their knowledge transfer management processes more flexible so as to orient their projects toward solving specific issues faced by our society. The changes in the socio-economic setting and the paradigm shift in the new role of universities has led them to include in their mission statement transfer activities that generate their own resources, which in turn give way to models that allow knowledge exchange. The aim of this study is to address different transfer models in research, extension, and teaching in universities which will serve as a platform to propose a conceptual model for knowledge transfer management in a faculty of exact and natural sciences. Specialized literature searches were conducted in an exploratory manner in order to identify how knowledge transfer is performed in some knowledge exploration institutions worldwide making it possible to identify various knowledge transfer models. As a result of this research, the five most relevant knowledge transfer models were identified to serve as a starting point to develop a model for a faculty of exact and natural sciences at a higher education institution.
