Abstract

Inelastic constitutive modelling is considered for the simulation of a high speed wirecoating process for polymer melts. Practical Trouton ratios are achieved, based on a combined shear and extensional viscosity representation. We analyse and comment on the limitations of this pragmatic modelling approach, that fits both steady shear and extensional viscosity data.
