Abstract
This paper deals with practicable modelling of single-circuit power lines with covered conductors. Moreover, it focuses on the modelling of medium voltage overhead lines with covered conductors for double-circuit distribution. Despite of not being currently the one of prominent simulation tools in the field of electric power engineering, software package DYNAST was chosen for all the modelling procedures. For performing the simulations of any realistic operation/failure state on the medium voltage level in electrical networks, the use of advanced power line models is essential. Some simulation programs, e.g. DYNAST, contain no models of medium voltage power lines with covered conductors in their libraries. Therefore, the development of such robust models must be properly done first. For these models, it is also important to consider more accurate methods for the calculation of passive parameters, which correspond to the behaviour of a real power line.
