Abstract

The combined models developed in Part I of this paper have been applied to predicting the size and inter-particle spacing of MgZn 2 grain boundary precipitates and the widths of precipitate-free zones in 7150 aluminium alloy as a function of heat treatment condition. The comparisons of theoretical predictions and experimental measurements are described. The results of the theoretical prediction given by the newly developed combined model, in which the precipitation and the segregation component are described by Carolan and Faulkner's model and the newly developed non-equilibrium segregation model, are well in line with the experimental measurements.
