Abstract

A hydrologic cycle model is developed in order to evaluate water budget and the mechanism of the cycle of water movement within a forested watershed. This model is built by four basic processes, rainfall interception, transpiration, soil moisture and runoff, taking account of SPAC (Soil-Plant-Atmosphere Continuum).This model is applied to a small forested watershed in Tokushima Prefecture. It is concluded that this model can explain the diurnal and long-term hydrologic trends of soil moisture whose behavior is related to rainfall interception, transpiration and rainfall-runoff.
