Abstract

Recently the effect of photoinduced molecular reorientation of nematic liquid crystal molecules originating from dispersed gold nanoparticles (NP) in twisted geometry above the Freedeericksz threshold was reported experimentally via optical Kerr effect studies [1]. In this paper we work out the Monte Carlo approach suitable for modelling of this effect using standard Lebwohl–Lasher–Rapini model with an additional term responsible for photoinduced molecular reorientation. The influence of local electric field enhancement on transmission coefficient is studied for chosen cases.
