Abstract
In recent year the demand of Permanent magnet brushless DC motors (PMBLDC) has been increased in robotics, industrial etc due to developed high performance with variable speed control. To have an effective control over starting and running condition a model of PMBLDC has been built in a MATLAB/SIMULINK-based platform using mathematical expressions derived from motor functioning principles. The rotor speed, stator current, back emf, gate pulse, and electromagnetic torque have been examined from a simulation model to study the behaviour, performance, and control strategy of Brushless DC motor. Generally PID controllers were used to regulate the motor, due to the presence of non-linearities the conventional controller doesn't give satisfactory performances. A fuzzy logic-based PID controller is employed in this paper to presize the motor speed regulation. Also a comparative study of the conventional auto tunned PID controller with Fuzzy-PID controller has been conducted at different load conditions in MATLAB/SIMULINK enviroment.
