Abstract

Presents a continuation of the work of Pichon and Bossavit (1993) and Li et al. A brief review of the symmetrical approach to cavity field computations in Pichon and Bossavit is given at first. Such an approach treats both electric and magnetic formulations and obtains an error estimate for adaptive mesh refinement. A similar idea has been presented in Li et al. for the purpose of eddy-current computations, and an automatic mesh refinement software has been realised. The present authors apply the developed model to a microwave cavity problem. A discussion on the choice of mixed (electric + magnetic) error estimators is given as well.
