Abstract

It is shown that mechanical compression behaviour in the fibre direction for laminated carbon/epoxy structure can be predicted with an elastic non-linear model. For that purpose, a specific bending test has been developed. A model for any stacking sequence is proposed and verified in several tension, compresion and bending tests. Finally, a possible explanation using the model proposed by Lee and Harris is developed.
