Abstract
This article demonstrates a model for creep strain that requires only a Parametric Numerical Isothermal Datum (P-NID) model for the stress dependence of rupture life and a Characteristic Strain model established from creep strain data. The combination of these models is shown to replicate strain and strain rate data for a modified 9Cr1Mo steel satisfactorily and compares favourably to a recently published alternative. Creep strain models are discussed in the context of their relevance to the design of high-temperature plant.
