Abstract
The first steps towards creating a unified modelling method for tennis racket design that encompasses both external and internal shape specification, accurate mass property prediction and finite element analysis and the carbon fibre composite lay-up manufacturing process is presented. An extended form feature method based product anatomy is identified, and how this method is extended to support the needs of slender thin section sculptured products is described. The study reveals useful insights into the requirements for design systems to adequately model similar products.
