Abstract

We show that by putting in a lifetime term in the BCS density of states, one can modify the Blonder, Tinkham and Klapwijk (BTK) model for point contacts to include the broadening of the superconducting gap (Δ) due to lifetime effects. We apply this modified BTK model to explain the point contact tunneling conductance curves in the gap region of high- T c superconductors.
