Abstract
Physical modeling of a difficult process can give useful insights on how to capture the correct physics so as to build a computer model of the process. In this article it is suggested that a candle wax experiment can simulate crude oil drainage by VAPEX (solvent application) or SAGD (heat application) along the heavy oil interface. The experimental set-up, some initial data, and some suggestions for expansion of the experiment are presented here.
