Abstract

The waiting time of a means of transport affects the quality of service and discourages passengers to use public transport. To measure the waiting time spent by an existing passenger in multimodal collective or semi -collective transportation stations of Tunisian Great Sahel (Sousse, Monastir and Mahdia ) ; we conducted a survey of users. After selection of variables by Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA), we used the General Linear Model in order to form a new “waiting time model” depending on the following variables: cost of travel, trip purpose, chosen multimodal means of transport , frequencies of travel and age of respondents. The study shows that the ability of waiting is greater among young people (mainly students) than for older (mostly workers) ; and multimodal combinations including collective means of transport such as the bus and tram need longer waiting time than the other combinations.
