Abstract

We present a model which would allow to measure the quality-of-education (QoE) through the full evaluation of the capstone project in the last year of the electrical engineering program (or related engineering). We emphasized that this evaluation should be coherent and congruent with the current development and advent of the most recent technologies. In this manner our proposal of evaluation would consist in a transversal analysis of the different aspects of the capstone project: (i) evidence of innovation in the software and hardware interface, (ii) acceptable link between theoretical model and implementation, (iii) prospective usage (commercial and scientific) of the final prototype, (iv) acceptable cost-benefits ratio, and (v) write-up of paper or final report. From a sample of 25 students, we have calculated the QoE being of order of 53% ± 13%. We have estimated this number in terms of efficiencies and accomplishments achieved inside of the different components of the program of electrical engineering.
