Modeling the attentional blink: A simple logistic model with first-order difference system

Abstract

The attentional blink (AB) basically refers to a deficit in the processing of the second stimulus, which is revealed when two target stimuli are presented in a rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) stream. We propose a mathematical model of the AB based on a logistic model with first-order difference system, and give a maximum likelihood method for estimating the parameters of our model. Validity of the model is confirmed by using numerical examples and simulating some typical phenomena on the AB.
