Abstract

In this paper, we propose an analytical model for TCP over selective repeat ARQ in wireless networks, in which random loss is the primary impediment to reliable, high-speed data services. We focus on the issue of modeling RTT (round trip time) variation due to ARQ retransmission at the link layer with non-negligible propagation delay. With the proposed model, we present upper and lower bounds for TCP end-to-end throughput. Simulation with ns2 is performed to validate our analysis.
