Abstract

Cube Satellites (CubeSats) are nanosatellites that are used for knowledge and educational purposes. One of the most important subsystems in CubeSat is the Electrical Power System (EPS), whereas the electrical power is necessary for a CubeSat to operated and functioned properly. The EPS consists of solar cells, voltage converters, batteries, sensors monitoring, and protection circuits. It is responsible for providing a stable power to the other CubeSat subsystems, such as the ADCS, OBC and payload subsystems. This paper describes the design and implementation of the EPS of ISRASAT1 cube satellite, using Matlab and Simulink. The design has provided a secure power source, taking into account the requirements needed for charging the batteries of satellite with power received from the solar cells. EPS regulates the battery voltage to the required bus voltage, and protects CubeSat subsystems from over-currents that may lead to device failure as result we obtained the request voltage and current from (EPS).
