Abstract

Data modeling is introduced in this chapter. Three types of data models are described: entity relationship diagram, logical data model, and physical data model. This is followed by a brief description of normalization, a process used to ensure data models adhere to a set of rules. Sample data models are created and normalized for a digital library.
