Abstract

Smoke and high temperature are the most fatal factors in fires, especially are in a high-speed moving EMU, the fire dynamics simulation is significant to fireproofing design and passenger evacuation. This paper models fire-induced smoke spread and temperature distruction in a middle car of CRH380 EMU with large eddy simulation (LES) by using of FDS software. The 3D interior CFD model of a middle car is setup with interior chair, then considering a fire source with a invariablene heat release rate of 800kw, the smoke spread and temperature distruction are achieved with various opening vent boundary condition, the finite volume method is used as a numerical value technology. The results show that the smoke spreads throughout the whole interior space within a very short time, the smoke layer is obvious thickness in fire source field than other field, and the smoke spreads more through the top surface to the other field, therefor the top temperature is higher, the time and sequence of opening vent are significant to prevent the smoke spreading and decrease temperature.
