Abstract

Evaluation of acoustic system performance and planning of at-sea acoustic measurements are examples that underline the need for robust, utilitarian models to predict the acoustic background reverberation and noise field that limit performance of active systems. This presentation describes two computer models -- ANDES and the AUAMP Baseline model -- that, in close to real time, predict and display such noise and reverberation fields and the corresponding beam reverberation response. The unique approach features a hands-off, automated data base extraction capability that sets up 3-D range-dependent environmental-input fields and provides a variety of computed files and full azimuthal graphics.
