Abstract

It was examined whether the modified k-e model, obtained from the modeling of hot air jets in the 1st report, is applicable to the numerical simulation of turbulent combustion flow fields. Calculated results were compared with experimental ones in hydrogen jet diffusion flames, and it was then revealed that the modified k-e model represents very well flow fields with laminarization due to the existence of flames, and the model is useful for the numerical simulation of turbulent combustion fields. However, although the ordinary k-e model also represented the large trend in turbulent flow fields of jet flames, the calculated and experimental results did not agree well. This was supposed to be due to the fact that the model cannot represent the foregoing laminarization in flames.
