Abstract

This paper introduces a new model for transient moisture equilibrium in oil-paper insulation, easily applicable even in a continuous way, based on Fick's second law. According to the model, the moisture concentration in paper follows step response function, but the equilibration time constant changes with time since it depends on temperature, paper thickness, equilibration moisture in oil-paper insulation, and number of oil-paper interfaces. The model is validated against experimental data.
