Abstract

In this contribution, a study of the thermal losses effect undergone by the different parts of an intermittent absorption solar refrigeration cycle using the Ammonia/Water mixture is presented. Since a great interest is given to intermittent cycles a discussion is made to highlight it through the adaptation of these cycles to solar energy. A mathematical model, which combines fundamental and empirical correlations and principles of mass and heat transfer, is developed for two cases with and without thermal losses. The model is used to simulate numerically the transient state of the system designed at the Applied Thermodynamics research unit (99/UR/11-21) at the Engineers National School of Gabes in Tunisia. The theoretical results concern the temperature variations, the vapor flow as well as the compositions of the rich and the p solutions.
