Abstract

Results of numerical simulation, in the framework of a 2-D model, of streamer dynamics in a hydrocarbon liquid (cyclohexane) in strong electric fields are presented. The obtained data show that fast propagation (with velocities exceeding $10^{8}$ cm $\text{s}^{\mathrm {-1}})$ of streamers due to electron impact ionization process in liquid phase is possible in the regions of strong electric fields. The calculated streamer parameters are compared with the available experimental data and with analytical estimates.
