Abstract

A model of a XeCl excimer laser excited by a fast electron beam is described. The specific input energy was determined from the pressure jump, and the energy and amplifying characteristics of the XeCl laser were measured. The specific output energy was 9 J/liter at p = 3.5 atm and the efficiency in terms of the input energy was 7%. The experimental and calculated results were compared. Various processes and constants were refined. It was shown that variations in the electron beam energy during an exciting pulse must be taken into account.
