Abstract

The objective of this article is to introduce a method to generate and optimize an efficient mapping-product of a distribution system such as an order picking system. The productmapping is defined by the placement of products in different stations of the distribution system under a number of constraints (type of storage, capacity constraints, stackability...). The mapping-product significantly influences the performance of the distribution system in terms of productivity, ergonomics and quality. This article puts the highlight on a new method of design and optimization of product-mapping and illustrates these methods on a concrete example.
