Abstract

45 pullout tests on three types of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) reinforcing bars (rebars) and the surrounding concrete have been conducted in this paper. The test shows that the bond strength of the indented and helicoidal tow rebars is the highest, and that of the indented and sandblasted rebars is the lowest. Pullout failure occurs in most of the specimens. An analytical model of bond-slip characteristic is proposed according to the experimental data, in which the ascending branch is expressed by the Weibull curve equation and the descending branch is linearly simplified. The accuracy of the proposed model is evidenced by the curve-fitting degree with respect to the well-known models and existing experimental results.
