Abstract

A steady state model for coal gasification process in a slurry-feed-type entrained-flow gasifier is developed with partitioning zone approach. The gasification process is conceptually divided into two zones: combustion zone where oxygen is existent and gasification zone where oxygen is not existent. The combustion zone is treated as a black box where the process of coal pyrolysis and the oxygenous reaction are completely finished. The gasification zone is partitioned into compartment-in-series along the reactor height and lumped parameter is assumed in each compartment. The model is respectively developed for combustion zone and gasification zone by means of element mass balance, matter mass balance and energy balance. For testing the validity of model, a comparison between the computed results based on the model and the practical data published in literature has been made and the results show the model is effective.
