Abstract

One approach to problems of gravity flow of bulk solids such as catalysts, powders, limestone and powdered lime has been to study the flow of such materials in scale models. Such observations can be helpful only when the scale-up parameters are understood. The theory of flow of bulk solids provides these scale-up parameters. The purpose of this paper is to discuss each of these parameters, to list the information about the solids flow properties necessary for meaningful small-scale tests, and to show examples of effective scale-up.
