Abstract

The mammalian cornea is very nearly transparent to light, a fact that is not obvious from its structure. The explanation lies with the degree of coherence in the scattering of light as it passes through the cornea. This article analyzes this explanation with an approach based on undergraduate electromagnetism concepts.
