Abstract

This work is part of an extensive program at the Laboratory of Applied Mechanics of D.U.Th. involving experimental and numerical research, to expand our knowledge of composite materials and propose enhanced techniques for rational design of sandwich beams and shells. In particular, it is a study of the importance of describing core failure in elastic sandwich beams by the Tsai–Wu criterion (not by simple shear), for a variety of support conditions and loading patterns.
