Abstract

Samples of electric power oligopolies in Russia are given. Mathematical models for oligopolistic electricity market (EM) are overviewed. New model for studying oligopolistic EM considering generating capacity expansion is developed. Also, variability of electricity demand and operating conditions of various kinds of power plants are taken into account in the model. Electricity market equilibriums based on Nash-Cournot approach are determined by the model. Electricity market of Central region in European Russia is studied for the prospect of 2030 using the developed model. Behavior of generating companies (GCs), mergers and acquisitions of the companies and possibilities for entering the oligopolistic EMs by new GCs were studied.
