Abstract

The growing need for efficient drive systems has given the static Kramer drive system a position of importance among variable speed drives. A mathematical model of this system is presented. This model is called a hybrid model. The hybrid model has been extended to include closed-loop speed control using PI controller. This model is used also to examine the system performance under free acceleration and closed-loop speed control conditions. Finally, laboratory tests are presented to confirm the validity of the mathematical model. These tests also show the ability of the PI controller to achieve a reliable closed-loop speed control of the static Kramer drive system.
