Abstract

This paper presents the modeling and simulation of the power train of an electric vehicle. The power train consists of the battery bank, inverter, induction motor, control stage and the vehicle dynamics. Matlab / Simulink is used to observe the behavior of the discharge pattern of different types of batteries. Lead-acid, nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cad), Metal Hydride Nickel (NiMH) and Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) batteries are used in the simulations of this work and thus predict the autonomy of each type of battery including the Peukert equation in the discharge model.
