Abstract
The energy demand in rural areas increasing rapidly and is mostly compensated by Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS). The WECS includes wind turnbine coupled to Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG), power electronics interfacing components of bridge rectifier, conventional boost converter and an inverter connected to isolated load. The mathematical modeling of wind turbine, PMSG, boost converter and inverter has been presented. The desired dc output voltage has been obtained by using Proportional Integral (PI) Controller. The Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) method has been applied for gating the inverter switches which provides maximum utilization of output voltage with reduced Common Mode Voltage (CMV). The performance of the WECS has been evaluated using Matlab simulation environment.
