Abstract

A class of problems of covering an area with a set of geometric objects of a given shape is considered. To formalize the task, the concept of a configuration space of geometric objects is used, the generalized variables of which are metrical and placement parameters. A mathematical model of the problem as a nonlinear optimization problem is constructed and its properties are investigated. The practical application of the proposed results is described by the example of solving the problem of determining the location of fire stations with the aim of ensuring the fire safety of settlements.
