Abstract

Photovoltaic (PV) power plants which convert light energy into electrical energy are developing rapidly in recent years due to the improvement of environmental awareness amongst the general public. As large-scale PV power plants are connected to the grid, they will have a great impact on the power grid. Due to the lack of the model of large-scale PV power plants in current power system analysis software. A novel model of the PV power plant is constructed based on PSASP7.0 in this paper. After that, a new method of the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is designed. Then, the model is debugged and verified in the case of static state, dynamic state and grid failures by the WSCC-9 example system. Finally, results show that the model proposed is correct and reasonable.
