Abstract

This paper investigates the hysteresis characteristics and variable current dynamic working state of lithium battery for electric vehicles (EVs) by experiments. To describe the hysteresis in battery modeling, a nonlinear battery model based on equivalent circuit model is proposed while introducing a weighting factor for equivalent voltage. Since the vehicle working condition is complex and the model parameters are sensitive to load, the model parameters are identified online to improve its accuracy by variable forgetting factor recursive least squares method. Finally, a battery model simulation is conducted to verify model’s accuracy by comparing the voltage curve of simulation with what obtained from the Dynamic Stress Test (DST). The experimental results indicate that the error of terminal voltage is within 0.05V.
