Abstract

This paper presents an application of system theory to dynamic modeling and analysis of optical communication networks. A general framework for finding the transfer matrix representation of a large-scale optical communication network is developed, based on interconnections of linear fractional transformations. The modeling framework is used to explain transient and dynamic phenomena that were observed previously in simulation and experiments on optical networks.
