Abstract

Rural Multipurpose Vehicle is a kind of vehicle which is designed to increase the productivity of villagers. This vehicle is named as a multipurpose vehicle because on the back of this vehicle using compartment, which can change according to the load which are passengers or production equipments. To keep the comfortable level of passanger and production equipment, it’s required a very good suspension system. The usage of magnetorheological damper on suspension system is one of the ways to keep the comfortable level of passengers and production tools, because using this suspension system the coefficient of damper can be controlled according to the surface profile of village road. To design this suspension system there are two step process, which are designing and analyzing. At designing process, it does the calculation and simulation to get suspension spring coefficient stiffness and range of damper input current. At analyzing step, it does the comfortable level analysis which is obtained from designing suspension system using some standard of comfortable and safety level, such as ISO 2631, Assesment Diagram for Vibration, BEISSBARTH Automotive Group. The parameters result from designing process, such as stiffness coefficient of front (Ksf) = 56904,57541 N/m, rear spring suspension (Ksr) = 70864,50183. And the analysis result show that using that standard of comfortable and safety level, suspension system which is designed produce good comfortbale and safety level.
